It's cherry blossom season, or Hanami. The blossoms are called "sakura", and the country has created anything it can to celebrate their cherished sakura blossoms, from assorted foods and sweets, to festivals and events just for celebrating the flowers.
These photos are taken from Miidera Temple, just a few blocks from our apartment. The first set were taken during the day... and the second set were taken in the evening during the lantern light-up (very popular to light lanterns to illuminate the blossoms).
