A very special day off...

Fun story: A few weeks ago Ray went to Costco with his teammates.  While there, not unusually, an American woman approached him and asked if he played basketball.  This sparked a friendly conversation, and Ray left Costco having learned that she and her husband (and 7 kids) have been missionaries in Japan for over 25 years!

On a whim we decided to call them up and see if we might be able to come out to Kobe, where they live, for a visit.  They were quick to invite us for an afternoon of wonderful conversation and a very comfortable home to spend our day off in.  It was cool to see Ray interact with their kids, as they are all homeschooled, and reminded Ray of his early years growing up.  It was a true blessing.  They cooked an incredible dinner of baked salmon, green beans, fresh baked bread and miso soup.  It was exactly what we needed.

Not to mention how refreshing it was to talk to other people on a deep level.  We miss that so much.  They were absolutely delightful.  I will post a picture of Ray and I and their family when I get one.

The pics below are from our short exploration around the train station in Kobe.  The colors in the trees (Aspens are my favorite!!) were extraordinary!  Dacia shows up on Friday, and I'm so eager to share our adventures with her!!
