Sensei released trout into the river (into a cage about 12x12 ft.) and had the kids try to catch them with their hands- their version of "fishing"! It was hilarious!
They let the kids roam the river with nets and buckets, looking for all sorts of fun river creatures. It reminded me of going to nature camp as a kid...
Each kid was then given a trout to put onto a bamboo skewer (I got to filet the fish - thanks for teaching me how to do that so many years ago, folks!!). Then, they walked with their trout to a BBQ. This became lunch!!
Delicious!

Sarah -
Did you filet "all" of the fish for roasting or just yours? Also, how were the children selected to attend the camp - what a terrific experience and opportunity, for you too! One last question, why are some wearing gloves?
We don't have many storms like the one in your blog in AK so that was very enjoyably.
I'm looking forward to your next post. Love, Aunt Laurie
