Changing seasons...

Well, the cherry blossoms came and went with the blink of an eye. Big hopes wanted to capture our new little ones amidst the pink blossoms, but alas, there were other plans in order. They were certainly beautiful while they lasted... but beautiful as they pass as well...

Whereas cherry trees here don't actually produce fruit, the "ume" or plum is different. Here is some evidence...




Yesterday, Papa was gracious enough to stay with Sophia as Roz and I escaped into Kyoto, to a place she had wanted to visit before even coming to Japan: Fushimi Inari. I had been here several times, as evidenced through past blog entries, but every time I go I enjoy the hike up the mountain through the thousands of orange torii gates... This time we climbed quite high, overlooking the city below.


The sunlight cast incredible shadows through the gates...





A truly beautiful day...
